Behind the Broadcast: Kiloview NDI Solution Powers the Chengdu Workers’ Cup Esports Semifinals

The Chengdu Workers’ Cup Honor of Kings Tournament is one of China’s regional amateur esports competitions, bringing together teams from different industries and workplaces while promoting esports as part of employee engagement and community activities. The semi-finals demanded a professional live production workflow capable of supporting both the on-site audience and online viewers.
The Challenge: More Signals, More Complexity
The production involved multiple sources—including gameplay feeds, commentator content, wireless cameras, NDI PTZ cameras, replay systems, graphics, streaming outputs, and venue displays. The challenge was to bring them into a unified workflow instead of managing separate point-to-point signal paths.
The team also required a flexible infrastructure that could simplify deployment and scale with future production needs. For the production team, the priorities were clear:
Simplify deployment and reduce cabling
Centralize multi-source production workflows
Distribute signals across multiple production systems
Maintain flexible routing and scalability
Improve operational visibility and control
Solution: Bringing Multiple Production Sources into a Unified Workflow
The production team deployed a network-based workflow built around Kiloview N60 encoders, N50 encoders, and the AVX 24-4 Media HUB.
The workflow brought together gameplay feeds, commentator content, wireless camera coverage, replay systems, graphics, and venue display outputs within a single production environment. Gameplay and HDMI-based sources were converted into NDI streams through Kiloview N60 units, while NDI PTZ cameras and wireless video feeds were integrated directly into the network. In this way, baseband sources, native NDI cameras, and wireless coverage could all become part of the same NDI production workflow.
AVX24-4 Media HUB, Kiloview’s next-generation IP and media management platform. Using the AVX 24-4 Media HUB as the centralized NDI signal hub, all sources were made available to the production team for live switching, monitoring, routing, and content management. AVX 24-4 Media HUB provided centralized signal management, real-time status visibility, and flexible signal routing, allowing operators to view and manage signal availab ility across the production network. Instead of building separate signal paths for each production system, the team could work from a shared NDI signal pool.
Replay content from 3Play and graphics generated in vMix were incorporated into the same workflow, enabling operators to manage live gameplay, replays, and graphics from a unified production environment. The live switching system could access gameplay feeds, commentator sources, wireless camera coverage, replay elements, and graphics content through the same network-based workflow.
Once produced, the final program feed was delivered simultaneously to both on-site and online audiences. Kiloview N60 decoders distributed live video to venue LED screens and commentator displays, while a Kiloview N50 encoder generated streaming outputs for online platforms. With support for multiple protocols such as NDI, SRT, RTMP, RTSP, HLS, and TS-UDP, the N50 helped adapt the final program output to different platform and system requirements.
By bringing acquisition, production, replay, graphics, streaming, monitoring, and display distribution into a single network-based workflow, the production team was able to reduce infrastructure complexity while maintaining the flexibility required for a fast-paced esports event.
Less Infrastructure, More Production Agility
The biggest benefit was not simply moving signals over IP—it was creating a more efficient production workflow.
By reducing cabling and simplifying signal distribution, the team streamlined deployment while gaining greater flexibility across the production environment. The IP-based workflow made it easier to connect systems, adapt to changing requirements, and scale resources when needed.
With AVX 24-4 Media HUB centralizing routing, monitoring, and system management, operators gained better visibility into network operations and could respond more quickly to production demands—without the need to rebuild physical signal paths.
