Kiloview P3 Mini Powers Live In-Car POV Coverage at the 2026 WA Sporting Car Club Championship
Close racing, multiple categories, and a packed schedule define the WA Sporting Car Club Championship. Held at MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway in Perth, Western Australia, the 2026 season spans seven rounds and twelve race days.
The fast pace of each round calls for coverage from multiple perspectives. For live production teams, that means going beyond traditional trackside coverage. To bring audiences closer to the action, in-car POV cameras offer a view from inside the cockpit, capturing the speed, vibration, and intensity of the race as the driver experiences it.
For the featured round on June 27, 2026, Turn 7 Media, an Australian sports media production company, handled the live production and deployed two in-car POV cameras alongside the trackside coverage. Their goal was to bring both feeds reliably into the live broadcast while keeping the onboard setup compact and practical.
The Challenge: In-Car Limits Meet Live Production Demands
Bringing live video out of a moving race car adds a very different set of demands to the production. For Turn 7 Media, the in-car setup had to deal with four practical challenges:
- Limited Space and Harsh In-Car Conditions
- Across the championship, space is especially tight in single-seaters such as Formula Vee, where the camera, encoder, power, and cabling all have to fit into a tight cockpit while handling heat and constant vibration.
- No Access to Camera Settings Once on Track
- Once the car leaves the paddock, the crew cannot access the camera or encoder. Framing and exposure had to be checked through the studio or with a separate portable monitor, making quick setup difficult.
- Unstable Mobile Network Coverage
- As the cars move around the circuit, cellular coverage can vary significantly. A single connection may not be reliable enough to keep the live feed running continuously.
- Multiple In-Car Feeds for Live Production
- Both in-car feeds needed to be available for live switching, while the production also required redundancy across its cloud and Malaga studio environments.

- Each car used a P3 Mini paired with a Marshall POV camera. Its compact size helped minimize the space required inside the cockpit, while USB camera power reduced extra batteries and cabling. The 4900mAh internal battery supported race-day use, and locking 3G-SDI helped keep the connection secure under heat and vibration.
- Built-In Screen for Pre-Race Checks
- The P3 Mini’s built-in 3-inch screen allowed the crew to check framing and exposure directly at the car before it went on track, without relying on a separate monitor or repeated confirmation with the studio.
- Reliable Bonding Transmission with KiloLink
- Supporting up to five cellular connections for bonding, each P3 Mini used two SIMs through KiloLink for this deployment. Both feeds were encoded in H.265 at 1080p50 and 6 Mbps, keeping bandwidth use manageable for cellular transmission. As coverage changed around the circuit, KiloLink distributed traffic across the available links, reducing reliance on a single mobile network and helping maintain stable feeds throughout each lap.
- Multi-Path Delivery for Live Production
- Both in-car feeds were delivered through KiloLink Server Pro on AWS to a Kiloview RMG300v2 at the Malaga studio, while local streams provided additional paths to AWS ingest and a third-party SRT server.
Results: A Simpler, More Reliable In-Car Workflow
With the Kiloview workflow in place, Turn 7 Media successfully ran two simultaneous in-car POV feeds as part of the live production at MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway, proving the setup practical for real-world race-day operation.
For the crew, this meant less equipment around each car and faster setup before going on track. During the race, both camera angles were readily available for switching, with negligible differences in synchronization from the viewer’s perspective.
“We chose the P3 Mini for its size — it fits into the tight confines of a race car where space is at an absolute premium. The screen is the other big one: it lets us position each camera and dial in the right exposure right there at the car, instead of relying on back-and-forth comms with the studio or carrying yet another piece of gear like a portable monitor, which in a motorsport garage just isn’t doable.”
For sports and other live productions, this approach makes it easier to bring live content from moving or remote locations into the broadcast, without being tied to fixed infrastructure. It opens up new possibilities for how live events can be captured, connected, and produced.
