Josh Parkhouse

I am a final year university student at Southampton Solent University studying Live Event Technology. My career ambition after I graduate is to work within broadcast and live television, and am actively looking for opportunities to develop my technical skills in a professional environment.

I have several years experience volunteering for local theatres, primarily as a lighting operator, where I started to develop the key skills under the pressure of live environments. More recently, my focus has shifted towards broadcast and video, and I have gained hands-on experience in studio and live sports production, including vision mixing for a live reality show, running graphics, and operating EVS for live basketball streams. In addition I am part of the university’s production company, where I act as a technical lead for exhibitions and corporate events, where I work directly with clients to deliver an event to their high standard. These experiences have strengthened my interest in broadcast and motivated me to pursue a career as a broadcast engineer.

When I graduate this summer I am interested in getting hands on with outside or studio broadcast with a well known broadcaster or production company. In the short term I am actively looking for work experience for video on location. My curiosity and eagerness for this industry allows me to consistently exceed expectations for any new oppurtunity I take on.

Lx Operator, student Open Mic Night, 2026 - Designed a Lx, stage and truss system for a student led Open Mic Night

Tech Assist/Unit Manager/Racking, Solent University Graduation Livestreams - looked after the graduation livestream to YouTube, operated a racking unit, dealt with clients needs from a tech standpoint.

Director/Vision Mixer/EVS/Racking, current - livestream Solent Kestrals games

Volunteer Lx operator for an annual pantomime at the Berry Theatre, as well as for various artistic presentations at the Portsmouth Dockyards
