Session Layer: In the OSI 7 layer model, Layer 6 provides virtual connection management. Managing communication sessions, i.e. continuous exchange of information in the form of multiple back-and-forth transmissions between two ends. Often provided by an application level protocol such as FTP or HTTP, or by the application itself directly.
