KATHREIN Broadcast Modernizes Critical Communications Infrastructure on Helgoland, Germany

• Technical modernization of one of the most important radio sites on Germany’s North Sea coast
• Ensuring reliable communications for air traffic
• Complex installation work under demanding conditions

Rohrdorf, 18 May 2026 – KATHREIN Broadcast is carrying out the replacement and modernization of key antenna systems on Helgoland, Germany, one of the most important radio sites in northern Germany. The site plays a central role in air traffic radio communications along the North Sea coast.

“Projects such as Helgoland demonstrate how crucial experience, technological excellence and reliable engineering are when it comes to critical infrastructure. We are proud that our solutions contribute to safe communications in such a sensitive environment,” says Jörg Lippert, CEO of KATHREIN Broadcast GmbH.

The exposed location on the offshore island requires extensive logistics, complex safety measures and precise coordination with all partners involved. The dismantling and installation of the systems must be carried out without interrupting ongoing operations. As a partner of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, KATHREIN Broadcast ensures that the project meets the highest technical, organizational and safety-related standards. In doing so, the company underlines its role as a reliable partner for projects of national importance.

The project highlights the strong engineering expertise and commitment of the KATHREIN Broadcast team. It sends a clear signal that even in highly complex, safety-critical projects, partners can rely on KATHREIN Broadcast.
