Kiloview Remote Production Solution Powers Live Coverage of Chile’s Continental Triathlon Championship Across 1000 km

On July 4 and 5, 2026, Antofagasta, Chile hosted the 2026 Americas Triathlon & Para Championships, Escondida | BHP, bringing together more than 600 athletes from 20 countries and over 25,000 spectators.

As a major event on the continental triathlon and paratriathlon calendar, the championship required reliable national television coverage. TV+, a Chilean free-to-air channel broadcasting since 1957, brought the competition to viewers nationwide, while DUO, Kiloview’s official representative in Chile, supported the deployment of the Kiloview-based production system.

While the game took place in Antofagasta, signal reception and broadcast infrastructure were based in Santiago, more than 1,000 km away. To connect the two locations, the production team needed a flexible IP-based workflow to transport the live signal from the venue to the broadcaster’s central facility.

Overcoming the Challenges of 1,000 km Live Broadcasting

Broadcasting a continental-level sports event from a remote city required a workflow that could maintain signal continuity across a long-distance contribution path.

The production team needed to address several key challenges:

  • Maintaining Reliable Long-Distance Transmission
    The live signal needed to travel from Antofagasta to Santiago. Any interruption during the live sports broadcast could affect the viewing experience, especially during critical moments of the race.
  • Reducing Operational Complexity
    Traditional remote broadcasts often require large crews, dedicated links, and extensive on-site infrastructure. The team needed a more agile workflow that could meet broadcast requirements while simplifying long-distance production.
  • Ensuring Contribution Redundancy
    As the coverage was live and tied to a major international sporting event, the workflow required a backup contribution path to help maintain signal continuity if issues affected the primary transmission.
  • Integrating with the Existing Broadcast Workflow
    The received signal had to integrate smoothly into TV+’s existing broadcast workflow in Santiago, requiring reliable decoding and a seamless handoff into the broadcaster’s production and transmission environment.

A Flexible Remote Production Workflow Powered by Kiloview

To support the remote production workflow, TV+ and DUO selected Kiloview for its professional AV-over-IP expertise and flexible, scalable solutions. It provided a streamlined end-to-end IP workflow that improved transmission reliability, reduced on-site complexity, and helped lower deployment costs.

  • Supporting Reliable Transmission Over 1,000 kmTo maintain stable transmission continentally, the P3 bonded up to six 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet connections into one SRT contribution stream. By dynamically distributing traffic across the available links, it reduced the impact of individual network fluctuations. This gave TV+ a more reliable way to transport the live signal across the continental distance without depending on a single network connection.
  • Simplifying the On-Site DeploymentBy integrating encoding, multi-network bonding, and IP transmission into one portable device, the Kiloview P3 series replaced multiple pieces of field equipment and simplified deployment in Antofagasta. In Santiago, KiloLink Server Pro centralized the reception and management of incoming streams, reducing separate system handling and making the overall workflow easier to operate.
  • Providing an Independent Backup PathA P3 Mini was deployed alongside the primary P3 as a separate backup encoder. Its stream was also received through KiloLink Server Pro, giving the production team an alternative signal path if the primary contribution was interrupted during the live coverage.
  • Connecting Remote Feeds to TV+’s Production System

At TV+’s facility in Santiago, two RD-260 cards installed in an RU01 chassis received and decoded the incoming SRT streams. Supporting multiple IP protocols and providing 3G-SDI and HDMI outputs, the cards delivered multiple signals directly to TV+’s existing production system, reducing the need for standalone decoders or converters.

By bringing field contribution, centralized management, redundancy, and broadcast decoding into one connected workflow, Kiloview provided TV+ with a practical path from the event site to the production center. DUO supported the local deployment and technical coordination, helping ensure the solution worked smoothly within the broadcaster’s existing environment.

A Practical Model for Long-Distance Sports Broadcasting

The deployment enabled TV+ to cover the 2026 Americas Triathlon & Para Championships from Antofagasta while receiving the broadcast signal at its central infrastructure in Santiago, more than 1,000 km away.

Instead of relying on a traditional large-scale on-site production setup, the broadcaster adopted a more flexible remote production workflow to support coverage of a major continental sporting event attended by over 25,000 spectators. By moving signal reception and production closer to its central facility, the broadcaster could reduce on-site complexity, make better use of existing infrastructure, and support the event with a more streamlined operational model.

The value extends beyond this single production. Remote workflows can help broadcasters cover more events with smaller field teams, fewer on-site resources, and lower deployment costs, while keeping core production capabilities centralized. This gives broadcasters greater flexibility to expand coverage to sports, cultural events, institutional ceremonies, and other productions that may otherwise be limited by distance, staffing, or budget.
